NEW AMAZING FILM ALERT! Think Orange is the New Black meets Pulp Fiction meets Enter the Dragon. Genesis, is a movie about the possible extinction of the male species and the promise of an all-female society. But it’s funny! And it stars Meredith Baxter. It doesn’t get much better than that — except it does. Robert Romanos, Suzanne Westenhoefer, and Dana Goldberg also star. What better way to kick off 2017 than joining us on this filmmaking adventure! You can help this terrific project get off the ground here.
We caught up with writer/director Audrey Evans and asked her to explain to us about her new film.
“Genesis is a sort of science fiction dramedy about the very first female to be giving birth by parthenogenesis, the body’s ability to reproduce without fertilization or any outside stimulus. She’s at first hidden away by the World Powers – all men – who plan to study her and learn how they can stop this parthenogenesis BS and save their species from extinction. She is then abducted by a group of radical lesbian feminists led by the charismatic Dr. Alix Martel – Meredith Baxter- and taken to an abandoned Jewish resort in the Catskills to finish out her term.Â
Genesis has been a passion project of mine since 1990 when I first learned the legend of parthenogenesis and the possibility of an all female society. I thought it would make good entertainment and also have some social relevance. Sadly, in our current political climate, it has too much relevance. Genesis is my spin on a timeless theme, the war between men and women.”
Hello!
I love this idea for a movie! One question?
If I donate and you do not reach $95K, Do we get our money back:)
Or do you just keep trying for the magical $95K needed to make this movie?
Okay:) One last question? Is this really what it costs to make a B grade movie?
Cheers, Barb
Hi Barb,
I chose Indiegogo to do our crowd fund because they let us keep whatever we raise. We can get through production for half of our Indiegogo goal, so full steam ahead! We’re already halfway to where we need to be to start shooting and that’s largely due to donations from women. This is a movie about women, by women, and for women. This is our movie! P.S. Thank you for your overwhelming generosity <3
