Lesbian Star Talk – Sagittarius

December is the month of Jupiter ruled Sagittarius: jovial, philosophical, moral, talkative, optimistic, and outdoorsy. The first weekend starts big, mirroring the expansive nature of Sagittarius.

On the 1st day, impatient Mars in Libra opposes unpredictable Uranus in impulsive Aries around 2am (25 degrees), just as the bars close, which will be felt most strongly Thursday night, November 30th. This is always a red flashing warning light to be careful, and pay close attention to everything around you.

Also on the 1st, social Venus gets us in the mood for holiday parties by moving into fun-loving Sagittarius till Christmas. Venus in Sagittarius symbolizes the wild feminine, the primal goddess, parts that have been suppressed in our patriarchal culture.

Mercury, planet of communication is already there and will be all month, increasing the chatty part of us all. Mercury, however, begins its 3rd annual 3-wk retrograde period on the 2nd (29 degrees). This makes clear communication very important. Be sure the other heard what you thought you said, and vice versa. Saturn is already there as well, till the 19th, keeping us responsible.

On the 2nd, Jupiter in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces make a spiritual trine (12 degrees). In these two water signs our emotions are enhanced. It is a good time to release old resentments with compassion, and embrace a more optimistic view of reality.

Gemini is the Sagittarius opposite, and therefore the Full Moon on the 3rd (12 degrees). These are the two signs that represent communication in the zodiac. Nebulous Neptune makes a 90-degree square to this Super Full Moon, compelling compassion and a spiritual atmosphere, as well as enhancing our imaginations. This could be the good news or the not so good news, sparking fantasy and confusion, even deceit. The theme of this Full Moon is, ‘what is real, and what is illusion’? Gemini energy tends to intellectualize feelings, and Sagittarius can invalidate feelings that don’t align with certain belief systems or moral judgments. We’ll need to quiet our minds and tune into our heart and emotions.

For the next weekend, Mars moves into Scorpio on Saturday, the 9th, till January 27th, adding more passion and depth to our energies. Also, ideas are innovative, outrageous, and encourage thinking ‘outside of the box’ later Saturday night as Mercury in Sagittarius trines unconventional Uranus in impulsive Aries just after midnight (25 degrees). On Sunday, the 10th, a Venus square Neptune (12 degrees, Sagittarius and Pisces) can be very romantic. However, this morning the Moon in perfectionist Virgo squares retrograde Mercury in Sagittarius (24 degrees), and may get us caught up in details. This evening the Moon also squares Saturn, also in Sagittarius, which could continue the debate. But the Moon moving into Libra a little later will hopefully lighten things up, reminding us that being ‘right’ doesn’t always bring happiness, and we do have a choice.

The Geminids meteor shower is on the 13th for any late-nighters. Generally, the best viewing of ‘falling stars’ is between 1 and 6 am.

For the third weekend, the energy is waning, as we approach the New Moon in Sagittarius on Sunday. In the previous few days we are in the Balsamic or completion phase of the Moon, and the Sagittarius time. The Sagittarius time is when we look at our beliefs, morals, and the values that we are living by, and which make up the person we are. Friday the 15th is a good time for honest communication as Mercury and Venus join in Sagittarius. It’s a joining of hearts and minds. Saturday, the 16th, the Sun and Uranus trine, helping us to embrace our eccentricities with love and a sense of humor.

When the Moon moves into Sagittarius, it makes the New Moon Sunday evening special (27 degrees), in that it’s part of a stellium, which means 5 planets, in Sagittarius. This presents an extra-potent opportunity for rewiring our beliefs, opening-up to larger possibilities, plugging into a significant source of creative power, and helping us to release old patterns that limit our potential.

Jupiter, the Sagittarius planetary ruler, is currently in watery Scorpio, offering a full range of feelings. The truth, faith, and higher vision available to come through us at this New Moon are sourced in our emotional depths.

On the 19th Saturn moves into its home sign of Capricorn for the next couple of years. The 21st is the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year, as the Sun moves into Capricorn, and crosses its planetary ruler, Saturn, emphasizing the Capricorn tendencies of seriousness and order. Mercury returns to direct motion on the 22nd, helpining clarity in communication come easier. Venus moves into Capricorn on the 24th, and crosses Saturn on Christmas day, helping us have a responsible holiday, while thinking and preparing for the year to come. The Moon is in Gemini for New Year’s Eve, so, it should be a social and talkative evening.

Next month’s article will be focused on Capricorn and it’s opposite, Cancer. I hope you all have a good December month, as we wind down 2017 and enter 2018. Do a kindness for someone every day, and that will make it a good day, every day.

I personally will enter 2018 filled with gratitude. I live a few miles away from the worst urban fire-storm in California history. But I am also filled with compassion for the many who were not as lucky as I. Have a happy New Year all.
