Well, Jan Miller Corran has done it again. Her first film, Snapshots (2018) which gets a 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, co-starring Piper Laurie, is magnificent.
Along Came Wanda (2021), produced by Buffalo 8, is an insightful, romantic and playful new film that will delight you. The lead characters (Cathy DeBuono and Constance Brenneman) are stunning in their roles. The chemistry between them is palpable. I don’t know how else to say it—it just works. The story centers around a spontaneous road trip as two friends set off on a grand adventure. Freewheeling Wanda invites Mary Beth—fresh from a recent divorce—to accompany her in her van to enjoy the freedom of the open road.
A cast of extraordinary characters are visited upon during this journey, offering insights, unexpected experiences and hilarity. Its just so much FUN! I love the fact that the film takes a close look inside the main characters and we really get a feel for what makes them tick. Jan has quite a knack for developing multi-dimensional characters in her films and plays.
*SPOILER ALERT* This love story has a sexy, slow build and doesn’t need to resort to frantic, gratuitous sex scenes to get the point across. And yes, this film brings out ALL THE FEELS you will need for a romantic Valentines day home viewing.
