Don’t Miss Queer Fashion Week in Oakland

Queer Fashion Week is the brainchild of Miz Chris, one of the preeminent producers of queer events in the US. The mission of Queer Fashion Week is to showcase designers, hairstylists and makeup artists who are creating fashion for all types of bodies and genders.

I’m so excited for this event! I LOVE QUEER FASHION and Miz Chris knows how to do it right. Buy your tickets here and we will see you there, April 16-19.

I caught up with Miz Chris and this is what she had to say about QFW:

“Queer Fashion Week is the first of its kind on the U.S.  This is our inaugural year and we are super excited.  We have 25 designers from over 15 states and 150 models from over 25 different states.  Our host hotel is The Washington Inn (I can’t wait until downtown Oakland gets some new hotels, hopefully).  We have four days of events and different venues (Parliament, Geoffrey’s Inner Circle, American Steel Studios and Qulture Collective).  It has been really an amazing experience for me.  I produce many large scale events throughout the Bay Area and Oregon for the LGBTQ community.

Q_FASHWhen I imagined this event last October I didn’t know it would be so well received.  It is really groundbreaking and an event we will be doing every year here in Oakland.  I think it will grow and grow and grow.  I think Queer Fashion Week fills a void within the Fashion Industry as Cory Wade (who is in the show) talked about in this interview.

I think the vision I have is to highlight queer designers and models and to provide a space for them to showcase. We have both designers and models who have designed and walked for the NY runways, as well as newbies who are showing and walking for the first time.  Pulling these two groups together to network with each other and providing them an experience to network with each other is, I hope, an amazing and empowering experience.”
